The woodland area in the North-East corner of the park, known as “the copse” – is to become an LNR – it will be called Dollis Hill Copse in Gladstone Park.
Natural England has approved the application for the copse to become an LNR following an application from Brent Council submitted by Martin Page.
The application was based largely on a document prepared by David McClements, who has been running a volunteer group – the Copse Group – for a number of years.
During that time it has been transformed from a largely neglected woodland into a thriving biodiverse environment. Access for the public has been improved and it has become a popular visitor attraction.
For more details of the copse, please read the excellent booklet prepared by David McClements to be found via Gladstone Wildlife on the menu and following the link to the Dollis Hill Copse in the third paragraph.
On behalf of the Friends of Gladstone Park, many conratulations to all involved in this wonderful success.
